Home theater audio is tricky. I've always stayed away from this because I'm a sound freak and the thought of the cost associated with 5 speakers makes me want to swoon a bit. But I decided to put something together for watching movies with kids etc. I tried a few different configurations - one with a very advanced transmission and one with a "good" transmission. I chose the "good" setting, reserving quality material for my two-channel audio system. This center fits very well into the "good" setting. A "good" setup is 3.1 with Paradigm speakers and subwoofer, Parasound and Rotel Pre-Pro amps. You hear the middle is the weak link in my setup, but that's acceptable. He's rude and not very "real". .but it is clear and I can hear dialogue well and it goes very well with my other speakers. price and appearance. .I'm happy with that. I cut it at 100Hz and I didn't play with it at all. .I'm pretty sure I can make it sound a little better by cranking it up and/or using my preamp's EQ. I'm definitely a longtime fan of Yamaha gear - they were great value for money. Products for many years and their ultra high standard is what I strive for as McIntosh. I associate their bass delivery with things that tend to "sound great". .if doesn't sound quite right. However, this isn't the best part of them IMHO. .everything is OK. I mean . .This is a $100 speaker and I think it's very good for that.
