I've been using this unit for over a year to swap my primary boot drive between Windows and Linux SSDs. It worked great and I had no problems with the data. However, there is one thing you need to pay attention to. Since 2.5" drives come in different thicknesses, the slot needs to be wide enough to accommodate thicker drives. plug when you plug it in. This probably won't be a problem if your system mounted the drive horizontally as gravity would have balanced it, but on my system the drive is mounted vertically so I have to be careful with that. The manufacturer could add a leaf spring inside the dock that pushes the drive sideways when it's plugged in, so the connector is always aligned even when using a thin drive. The BIOS and OS support that. Some people might try hot-swapping without noticing it, and it can lead to data corruption, but that won't be this dock's fault.
