I have added two rooms to our house and in one I have made an art room for my wife and used double sliding doors to go between her and the living room. Walnut lacquered doors and frames look great. In another room, I used a single sliding door to go between this second room (the messy backyard room) and the living room. Both sliding doors look and work great and the french doors make them look so much better. The only thing I had to do differently was use a longer latch than suggested as I have an old house (100 years old) that had the original lathe. and plaster walls that were thicker than regular drywall, so I took the screws about 1/2 inch longer. I recommend these door sliders and my wife loves them. an inch of space between the doors and the walls to keep the doors from rubbing against the wall when opening and closing. The guide piece also guides the door using a groove cut into the bottom of the door to prevent the door from being moved sideways or off the wall by children, pets or gusts of wind. and a rubber mount secures the door at the top to keep the door from coming off the rails. A screw secures this bracket (between the track and the top of the door) so it can be easily removed if you wish to remove the door for any reason.
