Review on ๐Ÿ—ƒ๏ธ OpenMity Box: Enhance Your Relationship with Meaningful Conversations - Date Night Cards Deck with 130 Question Cards by Ryan Gilliam

Easy to use, lots of questions

I didn't buy this set to use with my spouse or to improve our relationship. Actually I got it because I'm trying to work on my personal communication skills. I am extremely introverted and often find myself completely clueless when it comes to talking to others. I hate small talk, I don't know what to ask, I definitely don't know how to steer the conversation towards more interesting discussions, and I have a hard time answering questions about myself. I decided that during the COVID lockdown I would try to work on my charisma so that when my husband inevitably forced me to reconnect with other people, maybe, just maybe, I wouldn't be a complete social failure. While this set is geared towards couples, 3/4 of the set can be used with anyone including friends, family and co-workers. The questions asked in most categories are general in nature, some ask more superficial questions, while others involve more in-depth discussions. Compared to 5 levels of intimacy, most cards fall into categories 2-4. There are a small number of questions that fall into category 1 or 5. The only questions that are generally not appropriate for a general audience are questions from the Love and Intimacy deck. Some questions are very personal and very intimate. Some may even feel embarrassed to discuss them with loved ones. The set comes in a box with a pen, a goal setting sheet, 4 decks and several clear plastic sheets with designs to use as selfie photo filters. I found plastic selfie films useless, but if you love selfies and photography, you might like these. I haven't used them at all so I can't comment on how well they work. The gate sheet is used in conjunction with certain cards from the deck. There are several prompt cards that ask you to use the conversation to complete part of the goal sheet. The box contains 4 decks in separate compartments at an angle to the box. I find it difficult to take out the back rows even after the front row has been removed. I'm not happy at all with the way the box holds the cards. The cards themselves are of good quality and well printed. The cards are easy to read and easy to use. One thing this set has that most don't is an easy way to keep track of which ones you've already used. The top left corner of each card is perforated and can be easily torn off, showing that you've already used the card and moving on to a new topic each time. Combined with a goal setting sheet, this can really make you feel like you've worked through and improved your relationship and built something for the future. It can be a good gift for newlyweds. It can also be a useful tool to help you manage a difficult marriage suffering from a lack of intimacy and communication (if the couple is really determined to work on their relationship and use these cards. You can also use them as I did it to practice asking myself questions). and then replying to them to help in preparation for the interview.
