These devices don't seem to be very effective for people with well water for every period. We installed this device behind the filter for the entire Culligan house. At first there was a noticeable difference in our water, but it was short-lived and within a few months the improvements stopped. Then we dealt with replacing the cartridge, which cost almost as much as the entire device! Upon further investigation, we found that the high mineral content commonly found in many wells reduces the efficiency of the process that leads to crystallization after a short time. If this product had said more directly that it wasn't a system that would work effectively with well water for long periods of time, we would have chosen a different option. Instead, we're stuck with something for the dump.
