This pump fits my 1998 Chevrolet S10 ZR2 with no problems. It's always tempting to try and save some money but an OEM replacement is a good idea, especially on one like this important part like the fuel pump. My fuel pumps were installed normally, but never on this pick-up, the tank fell off. This was mainly because I had access to an elevator and other equipment. For this application, however, I decided to pick up the box. Rather than removing it entirely, I removed all the screws except for the two rear ones, which I simply unscrewed. This allows you to raise the front of the body like a dump truck. You have to be careful not to climb too high, otherwise the back of the box will be pinched by the bumper and damaged. I did this myself, but I recommend finding an extra pair of hands for this as it saves you the trouble of getting out from under the truck and going back a hundred times to make sure everything is ok. Another thing to note is that it is also a good idea to put in a new fuel filter. I sprayed some penetrating oil on these threads to allow them to pull in while I install the new pump. When the box is up you can access the pump. Be sure to blow away all of the dirt and grit before beginning the removal process. Remove the fuel lines, noting where they go, then the electrical connections. Using a punch or screwdriver, tap the retaining ring where it was removed and the pump should pop out with little effort. It wasn't as much room with the box raised as mine, but with a little ingenuity it worked. I put a drop of dielectric lube on the new pump o-ring and reversed the removal process. I also had to put a new connector on the sensor harness. You will need to look at the instructions to see how to attach it to your specific vehicle. Although the new pump comes with connectors, I chose to solder them as it makes for a much better connection. However, if you choose to do so, you must be careful not to melt anything or ignite residual gas fumes; THIS MAY NOT BE A SOLDERING TORCH but a soldering iron. I used a piece of tin to solder it and get the heat out of the pump. After soldering I used electrical tape and wire harness to protect the wires. Then just plug the wires back into the pump, make sure the ground is still good, and reverse the procedure to lifting the box. Don't forget to change the fuel filter and you'll be fine.
