This product was just what I needed to keep the sink and dishwasher hot water. I used a 1/2" male bolt to connect to this valve. I had a problem using teflon tape as it had a very serious leak. Then I used teflon pipe grease. Much better but always had still a slow leak. I was ready to return the valve but after about a day the leak stopped and everything has been fine for several days. As I rarely have problems with brass to brass connections I assume that the fit between the external threads of the shark bite and the internal threads of the new valve was unsatisfactory.Also suggested that the bad threads were on the new valve.As I really liked this valve I would advise everyone to use both a few turns of teflon tape and also to use teflon pipe grease at the joint. I wish I could do it myself. I'm always learning.
