Green Laundry Ball: Detergent

This is my second purchase of a green laundry ball. This in itself is a recommendation. I bought the first one a year ago. I don't remember the exact date. I'm only giving it 4 stars for the following reasons. I need to make some reservations. I don't use perfumed detergent due to allergies so you probably won't find this acceptable for those used to heavily perfumed laundry with a 'fresh smell'. Apparently less phosphates and/or surfactants have been used in laundry detergents for a few years now and as a result my laundry doesn't look as clean as it used to. Also, I admit that I have NOT tried the green ball without detergent at all. I use a tiny amount - much less than the minimum amount on the lid. Also, the ball appears to have a shorter lifespan than the claimed 3,000 uses. I think it's great though! My laundry is as clean as it used to be when I used a lot of detergent. Instead of buying detergent every month, one container lasts for several months. I don't know WHY this works. It could be the reasons they give, it could just be the idea of "beat clothes against a rock" or it could just be my imagination. I have no idea but I know I'm very happy with the results and plan on buying another one if this one fails. Why don't you try it? The price is so low you have nothing to lose.
