Review on πŸ•οΈ Snugpak Scorpion 3 Tent - 3 Person, 5000mm Waterproof Outer, Ensures Complete Protection by John Contreras

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Exactly what I wanted - very strong/spacious yet light

I wanted a low profile tent for hiking/camping Consider this Snugpak Scorpion3, Snugpak Bunker and the USMC Combat Tent All 3 cost about $300 and do about the same The USMC Combat Tent is good but: --- 8.5 lb Trailer Weight --- 38 sq. ft and 45" tall (2 people) --- packs up to 9.5" x 24" (poles 24"! oops) Snugpak Scorpion3 (this tent): --- Trailer weight 6.5 pounds -- -? square feet and 48" tall (3 people) --- packs up to 8.25" x 17" (nice short 16" racks!) Choose this one because it's lighter and packs MUCH smaller than the USMC tent. The rain cover goes up first which is good as it's not the whole tent you have to put up poles with.Once it's pitched up (very quickly) it will keep you dry , while you install everything else, which is a big plus. When you're done, this tent is very dark inside, almost pitch black. Very good if you like to sleep! However, the inside of the tent simply clips onto the rain cover, which is very light and durable. However, since it's dark, you may need a flashlight if it's night. Once the inner tent is secured and tensioned, it can be pitched. Very spacious and I love the tent! 3 large vents that keep rain out. The entire width of the wall is trimmed with pockets. I've read reviews that all the material is thick and durable except for the bottom. I disagree, the bottom seems pretty thick and I won't use a path underneath. The only downside to this tent is that you have to set it up in the wind. "Fly First" creates a large parachute, so you must temporarily secure it and constantly adjust it to keep the large canopy from being blown away. Once you have the inside finished and really attached, it will feel incredibly strong. I hope this review (very few others) helps and I am very happy with it! Would buy it again with great pleasure. Feel free to ask any questions, I will answer and update this short review. Edit: Here's another review I found on purchasing this tent: [.]

Pros
  • Tent internal dimensions: 87" long x 69" wide x 43" high; built for 3 people or 2 people and their gear
Cons
  • not secured
