I needed something economical/entry level to fix my road bike wheels and despite the almost free alternatives I chose this stand over the more expensive Park Tool stand. You can tune the wheel pretty precisely, if you don't have OCD and are looking for perfection then this probably isn't for you. All metal construction (steel/aluminum) and strong enough. Can be used alone but stabilizes best when pressed against a flat surface such as a tabletop. B. with U-bolts for attachment to a bench. Not a Park Tool alignment stand, but as I said, good enough for a do-it-yourselfer and you can adjust the bike almost perfectly in both the lateral and horizontal planes. Wheel straightening requires attention to detail, patience and time, regardless of the quality of the stand.
