They come with no packaging (plastic or otherwise), just in a box, which means that any dust mite (including the shipping box), mold spores, virus particles, bacteria, etc. will stick to both sides of the material and be automatically absorbed. down to your air intake and air ducts. I took a chance when my instincts told me not to use an unwrapped filter and I suffered greatly as did my daughter with a bad sinus and respiratory infection. And this is what the company is delivering during the pandemic. I think it's all from China, enough said. I wish I could remember buying them years ago, just wasted another $47! And the fact that I ordered them well before I needed them means I can't get a refund even though I only used the 1st pack 3 weeks ago! Complete divorce, complete divorce. I will file a complaint with the BBB (Better Business Bureau) and hope for a refund. They got my money twice!
