You don't need an extra 10mm over 70-200

Oh my god. This lens is incredibly beautiful! Often when I'm in the woods and just shooting for my own pleasure, I'll put this lens on and shoot with it all the time. My personal favorite focal length is 35mm, but this lens takes some really interesting shots if you know how to compose the shot properly. At aperture 4 there is sufficient subject-background separation and high sharpness. I probably shoot at 5.6 most of the time simply because I like a slightly larger field of view and the sharpness is crystal clear at this length. At f/2.8, however, it does some strange things. I bought mine used so maybe not on all copies but mine loses about a light stop at f/2.8. So the image exposure is about the same at 1/400 f/2.8 ISO 400 and at 1/400 f/4 ISO 400. The field of view changes and everything softens a bit, as you would expect from shooting with the lens wide open. , but for some reason no light comes through anymore. It doesn't really concern me though as I usually shoot at f/5.6 or f/4 and don't use it indoors (if necessary, Nikon's ISO performance is good enough to hide it). This lens once fell out of my bags from the picnic table onto the floor (rock) and the glass was fine however zooming is incredibly difficult now. Still takes great pictures, zooms and changes aperture with no issues, just a hard zoom. So I think it's pretty durable. All in all an amazing lens for the price (used) and if you don't already have a fast long zoom I definitely recommend getting one.
