It's not quite black, it's dark brown, which is normal :) The threads of the buttons inside should be covered so that they don't get stuck the zipper, that's my recommendation. I love this bag :) It starts at the top of my thigh and hangs down where my hands touch my hips. This is quite a large bag, I washed it when I received it, it's quite thick and dries quickly, very little color came out in the wash which I appreciate (careful use of the product). my walks, the zipper works well and there is a small pocket inside :)
