I don't know how versatile it is, but it works.

I had to replace the o-ring with a thicker one to keep the lid in place but overall it does what it's supposed to. You would think that something as standardized as a cigarette lighter socket would have really generic parts for it, but I think you should be aware that you might need to modify your "universal" product a bit before using it.
