Decent performance.

Used with Avid hydraulics and new Avid HS-1 rotors. After the first "break-in" they worked fine for about a week. Then, when braking, a metallic cracking sound was heard. It's like there's no friction material left. Removed the front and rear pads and found a large concentration of metallic material in the pads. (Most likely a mixture of copper) Usually this is the result of poor mixing of the components prior to making the pads. This is a simple fix, but it can be annoying. Place a piece of sandpaper on a flat surface. Place the pad with the friction material down and rub with sandpaper in the same direction that the pad contacts the pad. Periodically inspect the gasket surface to ensure you have removed enough material to overcome the concentration of metallic material. (You'll still see the copper inserts, but not so much that they're evenly spaced across the pad's surface) Replace them and "press" them again. So far they have worked well and remained quiet. If this "grinding" recurs, remove the pads and grind again. It should be noted that heavy metal levels leave a clear pattern on the rotor, but do not affect performance.
