Description of 🔵 Disc Brake Pads for Sram Avid Elixir 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 R, ER, CR, Mag, Level TL, T, Sram XX, X7, X9, XXWC, DB1, DB3, DB5 - 2 Pairs (Resin, Semi-Metallic, Sintered Metal)

Resin brake pads for maximum initial bite. Short break-in period,Stable and quieter. Low disk wear and comfortable braking feel. Smooth braking offers predictable and progressive power. Organic elixir brake pads make less noise than sintered metal pads and offer better modulation.

I had to sand before installing

This is terrible. The coating on the outside is uneven, which is why the pads are a bit large. I had to grind them down to fit the caliper body. The springs are very cheap and thin. Get the real brand and don't waste your money on these cheap imitations.

It pays to be the best in the category Brake Parts

For $12 for 2 sets you can't go wrong. This solved the loud squeaky front brake problem I had from worn and possibly dirty original front brake pads. I highly recommend getting an Avid/SRAM bleed kit so you can do a full flush/bleed. The combination of these pads with the bleeding system has really improved my bike's braking performance.

Pros
  • Sturdy finish

  • Definitely bad product

Quiet and powerful braking.

Amazing price for 2 sets of organic resin brake pads. Smooth braking and excellent grip. You'll love that all the other polymer pads wear out quicker than the metal pads, but for $10 or 2 pairs I could change these things a lot. One small downside: the paint they used on the metal made the pad too thick to fit in the caliper. I had to cut out some of the corners where the paint was heavier to fit the SRAM Level caliper.

Pros
  • Easy installation
Cons
  • not reliable

Pad separated from backing

I glued this to a Fezzari Abaho front panel a week ago. Rode about 50 miles on a singletrack with significant descents. At the end of my last ride, it was determined that the squeaky noises were due to the pad material on one of the pads coming loose and the metal on one side of my disc was metal to metal. Even if I took the easy way out, I have to replace the drive. I've never had this problem. The other set on the back works fine.

Modification Required

I am using organic pads on a SRAM Level TL brake. The pads had to be modified a bit to match the calipers. I had to file the ends to fit and slide into the calipers. I also noticed piston marks being left on the metal base of the pads. My standard pads didn't experience this. I'm not sure yet if this will impact performance, but I suspect it will in the future. On the other hand, the brakes hold up well, don't squeak or squeak.

Cons
  • Crumpled Packaging

Great replacement pads for Level T, more progressive braking!

I bought these to replace the stock Avid pads on my Stage T brakes. So far I'm very pleased. They are very quiet and appear to be much more advanced in braking performance! I found the stock pads to be a bit grippy, especially in slow technical situations. But these message blocks are a nice improvement. The price makes them an amazing deal. Can't comment on durability, but for $10 it's hard to beat. One note to keep in mind as others have posted, the springs that come with the pads are a bit…

Defective product: very dangerous!

These pads have lasted great for about 8 rides (about 10-12 hours of use). Then, suddenly and without warning, the pads installed in the rear brakes failed. I pulled the brake balancer and nothing happened, zero rear brakes! Inspection of the rear brakes showed that the braking surface of both pads had come loose from the medal backing plate. One of the pads' braking surfaces actually fell out of the caliper, resulting in a sudden loss of braking. Another block remained in the caliper, but when

Decent performance.

Used with Avid hydraulics and new Avid HS-1 rotors. After the first "break-in" they worked fine for about a week. Then, when braking, a metallic cracking sound was heard. It's like there's no friction material left. Removed the front and rear pads and found a large concentration of metallic material in the pads. (Most likely a mixture of copper) Usually this is the result of poor mixing of the components prior to making the pads. This is a simple fix, but it can be annoying. Place a piece of…

A significant improvement over standard SRAM brake pads.

I have SRAM Level TL brakes on a new Fezzari Signal Peak MTB bike. My other bike comes with the Hope Tech3 X2, which far outperforms it in almost every way. SRAM came with organic pads. I live in Northwest Georgia so we have different weather and track conditions. Organic ones supposedly have the best bite, but the originals don't cut it and make some of my technical rides unsafe. I was looking for an alternative other than spending a few hundred euros to replace the brakes. After lots of…
