The water resistance of the thermometer is so blatantly inaccurate that I don't quite understand how other reviewers judge it. Maybe it's because they've only been using it for a week. This rating is after 6 months of use. I was looking for a cheap and waterproof instant read thermometer because my other one got damaged by getting wet. This one was easy to use and seemed fairly accurate, although a bit slow for temperature readings. Since we (only) clean the sensor every time we use the thermometer, it seemed reasonable to expect that if the device accidentally slipped out of my hands and into the sink while washing, it wouldn't sustain permanent damage. This went on for some time before signs of water damage began to appear. This behaved exactly like the one that didn't want to be waterproof and no longer displayed the temperature. Luckily it was cheap but I won't replace it with the same model.
