I have a 20 gallon aquarium and had the problem that even after cleaning the aquarium was so cloudy and eventually algae blooms developed that's the point , where I couldn't see our two goldfish in the tank. I couldn't figure out what the problem was. Especially if there were only two fish in the aquarium. The pet store staff told me that goldfish are the dirtiest fish and need more of them to keep the tank clean. I was even told to buy an algae eater for the aquarium. After trying three different filters, I finally tried Fluval and the media filter options. I have learned that there is no one size fits all approach to caring for your tank and since using it for about six months our tank has been crystal clear. I clean and replace individual media as recommended to keep the aquarium healthy and the fish happy. In the beginning I almost gave up the tank. Now I'm thinking about getting a 50 gallon tank and my husband is supporting me while he watches me do a great job.
