Review on Onyx Chantal Classic Loop Enamel-on-Steel 1.8 Quart Teakettle: Stylish and Practical by Christine Fugleberg

Nice kettle and works great

I don't like kettles that have to be lifted with an oven mitt after boiling. We had another kettle where the handle got so hot it was awkward to use and always annoyed me. I also like how this kettle works. The part on the spout that whistles works very well. Again, my previous kettle boiled and didn't whistle, which could be dangerous. I also like the look of this kettle. It's very elegant and I feel comfortable leaving it on the stovetop as a showpiece. The only downside is that the base is a bit narrower than some kettles due to the rounded bottom. If you have a wide-flame gas stove, you should use the burner with the smallest flame so that the flame does not extend past the bottom of the kettle. However, I like the way it works and looks and I'm willing to spend some more time heating water on the lowest gas burner.

Pros
  • Useful not just for its intended purpose
Cons
  • Something different
