Review on Nordic Pure 20x20x4 MERV 12 2-pack Furnace Filters by James Vilchez

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good price on Merv 12 but expensive on Merv 15

Most bad reviews are due to the filter not fitting. But to be honest, that's the actual size of the filter, so it's not really fair. I know - 20 times 20 times 4 should be consistent. But it's not, so move on - this filter seems to be as good or even better than the more expensive TechPure that originally came with my new unit. That's about 1/3 the cost. I doubt they are even 1/3 as good! But we will see. The good thing is that they fit perfectly and I can order them here. I used to pay about the same price for 1 inch filters at a big store but I didn't see 4 inch filters there so wasn't sure if I would have to go to carrier etc to get these to get. Surprisingly, after just 4 months, the first TechPure filter that came with the new unit was actually quite dirty. Although the installer said they could last up to a year - this must be in the most ideal conditions as this filter was on its last legs at 4 months. I can already feel the difference in airflow with the new filter installed. Update 10/2018: Been using them for over a year now. Nothing bad to say. We see some dust in the house even if we have Honeywell HEPA floor units. I think it's inevitable. Update 01/2021: I upgraded to the merv 15 version of this filter in December hoping it would help my allergies. I will say that the difference in filtering is significant. Much less dust. I don't really feel the lower airflow that bothered me when I switched to a higher Merv. The only problem with this version is the price. Rated merv 15, this filter is significantly more expensive than merv 12. It is more than three times the price. Don't like that aspect!
