I couldn't get the footrest short enough for a 16" bike. So I cut off a small part of the adjustable part (see photo) and was able to make it as short as possible. Once installed it "worked" but held the bike almost upright rather than tilting slightly like a kickstand should. Afraid that the bike might fall over if my child tried to use the footrest, I tried the next sensible option: flexing the footrest. Well it was awful as it broke in half. Apparently this wasn't the *reasonable* option. So now I have a broken running board that is too high and I have to look around for a better one. If you have an 18" to 20" bike I suspect this will work well for you. But if you have a 16-inch bike or are looking for an incredibly strong jiffy stand that will withstand an adult's deliberate effort to flex it, then this isn't the jiffy stand you're looking for.
