Review on πŸ”Œ Maxxima Decorative Electrical Resistant Receptacle Upgrade by Bill Snyder

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Socket OK installation OK but. 2. OK

Maxxima sockets with burglary protection are normal for their price. I keep my house in line with current new building codes as much as possible, so I replace outlets with tamper-resistant variants. In addition, the house was already 50 years old, so the original sockets (old round almond-shaped ones) had to be replaced. The first thing that caught my eye was the 12 gauge wiring, which doesn't fit into the pinholes on the back of the outlet, requiring the wires to be wrapped around the screw terminals on the sides. Second, the screw terminals did not stick out far enough to wrap 12 gauge wire around the head of the terminal screw. The end result is the gradual bending of the wires to match the terminal block screws. Sounds easy, but when you're dealing with a crowded outlet near the floor and 12-gauge wires around those special screw terminals, it takes a little effort. Another poster mentioned that her husband hated installing those outlets. i understand why Unfortunately, I still have about 19 other sales outlets. After I put one in, I'll give it a little spread, maybe one or two a day. Leviton next time UPDATE Installing the second outlet was MUCH easier. The screw terminals on this jack were much larger, allowing you to easily bend 12 gauge wire. Apparently the screw terminals were faulty or out of spec when I first installed them. I would have gotten rid of many problems by looking at other ships. Upgrade to 4 stars.
