Ideal for magnetic mount. Catching repeaters very well even in hilly/mountainous terrain. *Update* July 30, 2016: I live in rural Utah in a fairly hilly/mountainous area. Using my Yaesu FT2900R mobile radio, I was able to successfully contact and speak to a repeater 37km away. Judging by the messages on the other end I could probably get a little further, it was just from my house. Very impressed with this magnetic mount, especially given the bad reviews I usually hear about it. *Also don't be an idiot like me. Clean the magnet CAREFULLY before installation. I wasn't paying attention and the magnet got caught on the metal shavings on the workbench in the garage. Paint torn down to the primer! Oh good thing it's only a commuter train.
