I use another flea, tick, heart heat and mosquito pill with the collar. Living in Texas we have a lot of bugs (mosquitoes) and the like so my pup is very itchy. Could be an allergy. The vet says it's because she's a lighter color. The collar helps us with extra itching. I would never rely on a collar alone. One where we live and two because it's only $17. You get what you pay for. My dog is 10lbs and I use the collar for 14-29lb puppies. My only complaint is that he dyes the hair on her chest white. She has hair, not fur, so it can be cut off at any time.
