Tighten each evenly. Check this setting before each use. This week I unscrewed two nuts. If you leave it attached to your car over the summer, check it weekly to make sure it isn't falling off. We have Perception Swifty 9.5 Deluxe and Old Town Angler 10 Deluxe. Both fit well considering the Old Town is a deeper kayak. The included straps work well and are long enough to go around my wife's kayak and roof pole for added security. They barely cover my old town so I just tethered straight to J Rack and haven't lost my kayak yet. Again, they're fine, just get in the habit of checking them often to make sure your nuts are tight. .
