I haven't had an EMP attack yet, so I'm not sure how well that will work on its own. If you plan on using it to protect against EMP attacks or solar flares, time will tell. I plan on purchasing additional separate double protection packs to get the job done if they work as advertised. I take this seriously because it's entirely possible that something will happen to the power lines that go down for one reason or another. Communication is one of the keys to survival. Especially when you have others who count on your help. I believe this bag has a rating of around 60-70dB and for what I've found it's pretty good. The bags I'm looking at are about the same price. As for the bag itself, it is well made. I need to take all my electronic devices and accessories that support them. Mobile phone with home and car charger, emergency radio with all the trimmings, including solar charger. Powerall with case, GPS with case and radio. Everything fits in perfectly, there is a place. There should also be enough room for a small laptop, which I don't have. Even if nothing catastrophic happens, this is a pretty solid tote and does the job well. It's a bit pricey for something untested, but I haven't seen anything else built as well as advertised. I hope he's never needed for a catastrophe like this, but I'm glad to be ready just in case.
