Review on Detector Bosch GMS 120 Professional by Wiktor Skowroski ᠌

A good product, but having its own defects.

In general, I took this device, because now I have to work a lot with drilling in an apartment in a panel house with repairs from the developer. For 2 months - I did not break through 1 armature and 1 wire. But there are nuances: 1. The search mode for wiring in reinforced concrete is practically useless. Relatively accurately grabs the wiring only if it is sewn close to the edge (in the gate in the protective layer, + -1 cm from the edge). And then the reinforcement in the deep layer gives very large interference to the result. 2. Quite accurately displays the position of the reinforcement. You can also estimate the location of the wiring, as it distinguishes between magnetic and non-magnetic metals. But again - you need to measure it out, an extra sharp movement - will start yelling at the reinforcement where it does not exist. 3. In general, in principle, he reacts nervously to power devices and sometimes even to lighting. Those noise immunity is near zero (As a vivid example: the puncher is plugged into the outlet (it’s just turned on, it doesn’t work). The detector starts to scream heart-rendingly at the fact that the entire wall is energized and shows that there is wiring everywhere. Turn off the punch from the outlet: everything returns to normal, where showed fittings - so it shows it, or where there was nothing - it doesn’t detect anything). The device is original, useful, but it will not do magic and will not give 100% guarantees. If you want a result close to 100% - turn to very expensive detectors.

Pros
  • 1. Does its job, but with some limitations. It should be understood that this is a fairly simple and "cheap" device, you should not expect any magic from it. 2. Drywall, wood, brick, foam / gas blocks will normally probe a few centimeters deep, including the search for wiring.
Cons
  • 1. Often catches interference and reacts nervously to sudden movements of the device. 2. Does not work properly with monolithic walls. 3. The accuracy is relative, to be 100% sure - you need to take much more expensive devices.
