Review on Gorilla Automotive 45188BC 20 Thread Forged by Rene Putman

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Mine came in good condition, no complaints.

**Updated: They will clean RPF1 wheels when using a 19mm impact socket. I've installed and removed these nuts (with a cordless hole punch) on my race car countless times and they still screw on and off perfectly. I've just noticed very small rust spots that have formed on one of the edges of a pair of lug nuts, likely from frequent cycling and use of a punch. But it's very small and doesn't bother me. I also usually put them on a ground/metal stud tray when they are removed and they don't rub. Very durable and so far happy with the purchase. I saw negative reviews stating these nuts arrived with signs of rust and wear, but I heard good things about Gorilla Nuts so I ordered them anyway. I'm glad I did - they arrived in perfect condition. There was some dust/dirt (not rusty) in the bag which is probably just left over from the manufacturing process. The nuts themselves were in perfect condition and the threads were absolutely clean. The ring nuts thread smoothly and easily onto the studs. I've only removed and reinstalled the nuts twice, but so far so good! I wanted these because they are longer, don't require a special wrench (you can use a 19mm deep nut), and more. Most importantly, there is a cap at the end (they are not open). In theory, this should prevent dirt and brake dust from getting into the threads. A few more notes: I also ordered a 19mm nylon-coated ARES head to use with it, but it doesn't work. The nest is not deep enough (there is excess material in the nest). My regular 19mm deep impact socket worked fine. I used it on my stock 2014 Scion FRS wheels and the lug nuts and 19mm deep impact socket fit with enough play and not rubbing. Haven't tried them with my RFP1s yet, but I'm hoping there's room on those bikes too.

Pros
  • Very good value
Cons
  • Unbelievable price
