This is a review of the PA905U external drive. That works great. Everything in Windows 7 was plug and play. It just worked as soon as I plugged it in. The same in Ubuntu! I've cycled through about 80 disks and copied files and image backups with dd. The maximum read speed with dd was about 55 KB/s. From what I can find online, this is about what the old 3.5" internal floppy drives shipped. Copying files from DOS slowed things down to 25kb - typically 40kb/s. This thing reads 720K disks as advertised. The callers say they only read 1.44 MB, so that was out of the question for me. I was hoping that this one would read them as advertised and it really does. , it looks like a small fan or a problem with the device, but I think it's normal. The cable is 20 inches long and has a ferrite bead. The front left and right edges are not rounded as shown in the photo; I think it's a copy and paste error. The back edges are *slightly* beveled as shown in the photo.
