Review on 32-inch SIMPLIHOME Bedford Dark Tobacco Brown Storage Media Cabinet by Girish Underwood

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Looks good but had some workarounds during assembly

Rated four stars as it looks very nice once assembled (five stars) but assembly was a challenge (two stars). unity together. I wish it was like that for me. There were minor annoyances like a sticker on each glass that was blocked by a wooden board (tip: heat one side with a hair dryer to soften the glue and then remove from the glass, repeat on the other side and then heat the part that hidden by the plank due to glass - then you can pull the sticker out from behind the bar leaving only the nominal adhesive layer); a big annoying sticker inside the cabinet (again, a hair dryer helps), as well as "extra" holes for shelf brackets, among other things, which do not have matching holes on the opposite side. But what really gave me a headache was the pilot holes (not pilot holes, more like notches in the fairing) that marked where the hinge screws should be installed, as well as those for the magnetic "latches" a bit removed from where they were should have been. This probably doesn't apply to most devices, but it was absolutely true for the one I bought. I installed the hinge screws exactly to the manufacturer's instructions, but the doors didn't work. The process actually scratched the cabinet a bit. Since the block is the softest wood I've ever come across, and the labeling error was negligible, I realized that simply removing the doors and reinstalling them in the correct places would almost certainly result in the screws failing, with to which the door hinges are attached door hinges loops. Cabinet. To solve this problem, I drilled (don't drill through) holes in each location previously marked by the manufacturer and glued dowels in each hole. Once the glue was dry I cut the dowels flush to the side of the cabinet (use a flush saw or you'll ruin the finish) and then reinstalled the doors. The dowels compensated for the soft wood and previous holes, allowing me to reinstall the hinges in the correct place. I used some dark varnish to coat the pins (not necessary as they were covered with hinges) and to remove the scuffs from the building process. The doors now work perfectly and I suspect they will continue to do so. The cabinet looks really great when assembled and while building the unit wasn't a nightmare it was more difficult than it should have been. It is clear that all the reviews say that the installation is easy, the problems I have encountered are not universal. But there are many reviewers who said it was a little tricky to set up, so keep that in mind. I have experience assembling these "kits" (although not exactly this unit or units from this manufacturer) and I have quite a bit of experience with wood, but it was still a problem for me because I think it was just careless . Quality control of my device. Overall, I'm glad I bought this device. The process was a little painful but looks very nice and meets my needs (keeping towels in the bathroom).
