Review on πŸ”’ Tannus ARMOUR Tire Insert: Puncture-Proof Bike Tube Protector & Thorns/Goatheads Flat-Stopper by Donnie King

Great rolling resistance

I'm driving in the desert with flat tires. I have an old bike and didn't want to afford tubeless so I figured a Tannus insert would help. Pros: I've put it on for over 100 miles without a flat tire, so it does its job well in that regard. It was easy to install. Climbing traction is slightly better due to the softness of the rear tire. It's relatively inexpensive. Cons: Scrolling speed is MUCH slower! I'm not a downhiller and ride a lot of cross country. No matter where I ride, my gears have to be 1 or 2 gears lower due to rolling resistance, with an insert. However, my old bike has 26" tires so it might make a difference compared to 27.5s and 29s. I recently took out the insole to see how big the difference was and it's gotten a lot better. When riding, you probably won't mind the extra rolling resistance, but if you ride a lot of terrain and are used to some rolling resistance, it might not be for you.
