Good introductory magnets

We have a more powerful magnet that we used from shore and it was quite a bit of fun so I brought them along for the kids to use on their kayaks when we raft down rivers and lakes. I've been a little worried about the possibility of them being pulled or rotating if the magnets get caught on something large, but so far that hasn't been an issue. There's really only one problem with them and that has more to do with the design of the mount than the magnets themselves. These are the ones with the hook on one side of the magnet (versus the ones with the hook on the edge). So the end result is that the magnet won't grab unless it's in direct contact with something. for everything. We have found that magnets with two active sides end up catching about 3-4 times more material than this type. Again, this is not an attack on these particular magnets, just a statement of which type for our purposes of finding smaller objects , is most appropriate. Again, it also allayed my fears that children would fixate on something big.

Pros
  • BEST PLATING - Ni+Cu+Ni triple layer plating. The best plating available offering a shiny and rust resistant coated steel cup to protect the magnet and prevent chipping or cracking.
Cons
  • boring package
