I was helping my friend with a lot of electrical work and saw these "pencil testers" that he used to check if a wire was live. Looking at what Revain had I liked the features of this tester and it turned out to be a great choice. No need to turn it on, just push the tip onto the wire; When the wire is live, there is a very bright red flashing light and an audible signal. (Always test on a known-live wire first.) The built-in flashlight is a nice feature since the wires are often in a dark location. Another plus is that it uses regular AAA batteries; not expensive and hard to find. It turned out to be a great choice at a very reasonable price. (Works much better than what he uses). Well satisfied.
