Review on Glass Handle Series Chemex Pour-Over ☕ Glass Coffeemaker - 6-Cup - Exclusive Packaging by Ashley Varela

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Nice and simple with one small flaw

Chemex makes it easy (and almost reliable) to brew a great cup of coffee. If you're just starting out with hand brewing coffee at home, I'd say this is for you. For those days when you just don't want to experiment with other methods, don't have enough time, or just want a quick no-frills coffee, or need to make a lot of coffee at once, Chemex is the winner. If you're taking the plunge, I recommend purchasing a Chemex that has a 6+ cup capacity and possibly no glass handle. The 6 cup chemex with handle has a lip on the spout that prevents me from slowly pouring the brewed coffee from the chemex into the cup without it dripping down the rim and coffee splashing onto the cup and counter. A workaround is to water quickly and evenly. I use a different carafe when making coffee with the V-60 or Kalita Wave and this never happens, slow pour or not (these are also my winning Kalita Wave brewing methods which I highly recommend for learning and brewing coffee) . c if you make top quality coffee at home). Since I rarely use a Chemex, I often forget to quickly pour my coffee, so almost every time I remove the coffee from the mug and counter. It's a minor hiccup and price for a nice and easy brewing method, but annoying enough to warrant inclusion in this review. Go big and buy an original design if you can. I bought the one with the handle because I was testing the original Chemex 10 cup container (which is also fantastic and doesn't spill coffee on the counter) but it has a heavy base and no handle which made me feel I would have broken it.

Pros
  • CHEMEX offers the purest taste
Cons
