NOT effective in adsorption. I always do a simple food coloring test before using charcoal and always follow the same procedures. I had the same results for 3 attempts - ineffective at adsorption. This product does not effectively remove common contaminants from water. I even gave the product the benefit of the doubt and experimented with an overnight coloring with lots of mixing. ZERO FILTRATION. The packaging of the product is cool and the "Lab Grade" label tempted me to buy it. It would look great as a dry substrate in the terrarium, but as a filter - DEFINITELY NOT.
