They don't break (that often)
Remember the hardwood toothpicks that America used to make. They could be chewed all day and never broke. What you get now is basically made of bamboo and made in China. These birches are the best I can find at the moment. One of the 3 or 4 still breaks before I can pierce all of my teeth, but that's better than the bamboos that broke 3 of the 4. I like that they are individually wrapped so I can take a pair with me and keep some in the car without getting them dirty.
