Review on High-Quality SE Pro 10x 21mm LED Triplet Loupe - MJ37801L by Shantel Griffin

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Amazing for soldering tests with SMT electronic components

The name says it all. It was better than any other loupe I've owned for inspecting solder joints on ultra-small, pin-heavy SMT ICs. The magnifying glass comes in a small box, great for the price. a magnifying glass and a tool for unscrewing the battery cover. (For some reason I have 2 tools). Light - 6 LEDs, works well. I don't know how long the batteries will last, but it's not a gimmick and it illuminates the components well. This means you can hold the item where you want it instead of having to inspect it in bright light. Optics quality. It's a 10x magnification device and it's small, so plus points: - I have glasses and I can use them :-) (in my glasses) - I can keep the magnifying glass a good distance from my eyes. this. You don't have to be very close to the subject - Optical quality seems good, but any object around the edges will be distorted. the glass appears to be real optical quality glass. This isn't plastic, and there doesn't seem to be any distortion aside from the usual geometric effects of such lenses. Disadvantages: - It takes a little time to get used to such an increase. I had another 10x loupe but it came with a plastic cup to keep the perfect distance from the subject. This is a magnifying glass, so any movement of the hand will greatly change the image. Unconfirmed: - I don't use this to view gemstones like diamonds, so I don't know if there are color accuracy issues or not (it doesn't look like it) or some sort of dust between the lenses. Bottom line: at this price point, it's hard to go wrong :-) If you like looking at other small solder joints as a "USB microscope", this is a great way to test them.

Pros
  • 6 white LED lights evenly spaced around lens perimeter with diffuser for even, shadow-free illumination
Cons
  • No power
