A newcomer to Ham, Elmer proposed a similar system of multiple access point adapters for HT that use SMA threaded connectors for various upgrades or mobile pins, fixed, J-pin, antenna, etc d. The '58 coax I'm using for the J-shaped roof support has BNC F and some very nice pins. Using a pigtail seemed too weak, or using the SMA 239 regularly would make it seem like the SMA would wear out fairly quickly or eventually fail. BNC is a great solution. I just spent a hell of a lot of time trawling through the often contrastingly described male and female translations looking for what I needed. Exactly! Finally! If there is an issue with fit, length, threading, etc., these models are FIT. Well done, no problems. Definitely recommend. I plan to put them in all my HTs that use SMA connectors and buy or adapt different antennas to match. SO much easier and I haven't noticed any loss, but then again I'm not an experienced ham radio operator and I can learn a lot from this very cool old school hobby/good guy league. I have a lot of experience with old RC rotary CPs that I built myself, so some of the themes go well together. It's really a do-it-yourself club hobby and it was difficult at the beginning. Still. All different networks compatible or incompatible with one or the other, digital and analog switching, repeaters, programming cables with chips, only compatible with OS or PC, CHIRP or not, with own array of .csv files oh my god, I've been close to giving up many times. I am currently waiting for the next exam date to take both exams at the same time and have been listening for the past 6 months. That's the first reason I decided to continue working with Ham. It says a lot that there is a community of helpful, experienced and wise people with lots of great QSOs who are really respectful in communicating with each other. Much more fun listening to various local and national bands on the UHF band than trash shows on some brand new and even more idiotic "idiot box". Yes, I think deep down I'm old school in many aspects of life. The military and LE veterans, often with aviation and engineering backgrounds, definitely piqued my interest in becoming a licensed amateur radio operator as these are the majority of those I have always had a strong fraternity surrounding them. It's a nice hobby, and a technical one. As a former RC mentor said when we flew collective 2-3-6 axle mowers, "If it were easy, it would get boring very quickly." As quads with push-button start and return, custom high-performance or scale Overtaking Flyers meant that very cool, very precise tools and kinship with some good friends at the forefront of old-school innovation were gone. I don't think Ham will be plug and play any time soon. So, forward, and a new journey begins. 73s
