Review on 🔓 Unlock Your Child's Potential with the Osmo Genius Starter Kit for iPad! by Ryan Lawson

Good but boring and should include a workbook

I really like the idea of these activities and the tactile interactivity that Osmo creates. However, the games are kinda limited, boring and slow (at least for the kids). Hopefully they will update the programs in the future so our youngest child really enjoys them because I think there is a lot of potential here. I also wish these games had more guidance for kids so they can make it easier and more independent at that age, but it keeps me involved in what they're doing, which is a good thing. My kid loves the game. Activity counts, but that's all. It'll do the words once, but again it's pretty boring (like number one, just not really), despite being an important activity. I am deducting a star due to the nature of these actions. I probably would have given 4 stars (I did for the junior set) if I hadn't realized the downfall of this set by purchasing a set. As we also bought a younger child I have found that this has another downside. . You need a working Osmo Pad. The Osmo workmat is of good quality and when you are working on a children's desk with a pattern on it, Osmo picks up on a desk design that can be problematic during class, which is why I gave it another star. We're using a piece of paper as a working pad, and while it works, it's a bit lame. There is one parenting app that isn't great and their app for downloading and using actions is mediocre and semi confusing. I didn't pay full price - wouldn't recommend paying full price - but for an offering like mine it's a regular purchase and we use it a lot so I'm glad we bought it (especially with the ongoing ban). It's good, but it could be really great and I hope they do it that way in the future. I will follow other events in the future.

Pros
  • A Christmas present for boys and girls. OSMO IS MAGIC: fun and award-winning educational games. Children interact with real wearable objects and iPads to bring child play elements and activities to life (no WiFi required to play). Osmo base included, iPad not included, both required to play.
Cons
  • Compatibility
