(see before and after photos). In a few years we'll be completely redoing our kitchen (which was remodeled from cheap household rag materials just before we bought it) but I'm so tired of looking at it 10 years later. It obviously didn't make sense to spend thousands of dollars on upgrades, so I just added this backsplash, new fixings, and cabinet pulls (all bought from Revain). I'm still planning on adding more tiles around the perimeter. Window. I did 3 walls under the cabinets and behind a 3 drawer stove and I have tiles left over. Unfortunately the fins didn't level the table top so I had to make adjustments when I started. The manufacturer's advice to start in a corner is not always practical when windows have been broken for a long time and everything is not level. I ended up ordering more tiles to redo the right side of the sink window, which ended up being taller than the one on the left. Repeating this, I adjust the height to the left of the window and work toward the right corner instead. Tiles are easily cut with a clerical knife, and measurement marks made with a pencil are instantly erased. They stick very well (make sure there is NO grease or dirt on the wall) so you need to be very precise in placing them. I cut and trim before removing the backing. Once you stick it on the paint and/or drywall will peel with it unless you have a really hard surface. Fins just painted our drywall backsplash with a cheap primer so it immediately came off with the tile so there was no point re-gluing the tile. There is a cracked bulge in the wall under the cupboard to the right of the stove and there is a hole visible under the hood which they cover well! The fact that they are a more realistic size justifies their cost as well as the support that makes alignment easier. The surface of the face feels slightly sticky/gummy but not sticky and it doesn't seem to affect anything. I managed to clean them. Clean up items that can get dirty immediately, because I had a smear of tomato sauce that I didn't notice that left a light stain overnight. It's nice to order more than I need which means I can easily replace them! You can see the stitching if you look closely, even if it's tight, but most guests won't even notice. Because the tile panels are larger, the seams are further apart than cheaper flexible versions. So far, tile after tile has not been exposed to heat, which has been one of my main concerns. I've had a few spots in my kitchen where the edge of the tile has started to lift, but they seem to get stuck after I press them. I'm not sure if they really started to pull up, or if I just didn't glue them all the way down when attaching them and noticed later. For a short term solution, easy installation and price compared to ceramic. Tiles, they look very convincing and I would definitely recommend them!
