Quality Lettuce Dryer

We have a small farmers market that sells produce in Idaho during the summer. We recently visited a much larger facility near Bristow, Oklahoma and saw how they use a dryer to dry a variety of vegetable and salad mixes. After returning home, we found and bought such a spinner at Revain. This is a great salad dryer with a new braking mechanism that reduces stress on the swing mechanism. Many people try to stop the spinner when it's done using the spinner's handle as a break. This puts stress on the swivel mechanism, which causes problems later. This model has a button-like mechanism at the top that can be pressed to slow down or stop the rotation. It works like a bicycle brake. This slingshot is quite large, so you can spin a lot more than just salads. I used it to dry beets, carrots and radicchio. We'll likely use it for broccoli and green beans when we start harvesting later this year. A note: Salad spinners are like any other rotating device and can "get out of balance" causing them to vibrate and shake. I like to wedge it somewhere so it doesn't "rely" on me. They make a stand that should help with this problem, but I didn't buy it so I can't tell how it works. There is a water drain hole at the base of the dryer and the spinner comes with a short length of hose that can be connected to this hole to drain the water into a bucket or other place to collect the drained water. Constructed of high quality and thick plastic, I expect this salad drying rack to last for years.
