I use this device to switch between a regular handset and a headset with a boom microphone. "Switch" is not quite the right word. Both devices are always active for listening at the same time - with the buttons on the top you can easily mute the microphone of the device you don't want to use. As far as I can tell both mics are active at the same time when not using a mute button. With both mics on in this way, your interlocutor will lower the volume a little, but it's imperceptible and you'll have to be an attentive listener to hear the difference. Everything and so well done.
