Review on Dorman 599 001 Climate Control Module by Justin Hollins

I was just like you once. I ride on Revain and I want to make my truck a little prettier. Got a fancy new, every light works, HVAC module. I also stumbled across this device, read some not-so-great reviews, but overall it seemed like just some bad devices and not all. Mine would be fine. Right? Not right. Immediately after unpacking the device was great! The fit and finish were amazing. All headlights work! The buttons weren't all worn out. The interior has really come alive! But after a few months, strange things started happening. Instruments accidentally switched off while driving. The headlights suddenly stopped working. The air conditioning turned off. The radio stops. The dashboard lights came and went like a concert by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Windows was not minimized or shut down. The truck was stuck in anti-theft mode at the weirdest (and worst) of times. The problems became so severe that the truck became unreliable and even uncontrollable. Damn, the 17 year old truck breaks down! A little background about me. I am an ASE Certified Heavy Truck Specialist. Diagnosing electrical problems is my specialty. Finally I got to the diagnosis of the truck. Low and here's a whole bunch of CAN communication issues. hmmmm A bit of diagnostics later, and long story short, this HVAC module was creating surges on the serial data bus (the wires that all truck modules communicate on) and causing the truck to do all sorts of weird things. This new fancy HVAC module made my truck useless! so much sadness By the time the problem surfaced and was resolved, I was out of the returns window. More sadness. So now I own this expensive paper load. I changed my original HVAC module and everything has been fine ever since. But now I'm back with my HVAC taillights not working. Probably the saddest. I can't imagine anyone else taking their truck to a dealer or workshop with this defective device. You would spend hundreds if not thousands to diagnose and fix problems caused by this HVAC module.
