The company goes out of its way to help you understand their product and how best to use it. All instructional videos are excellent. I made a filter basket template out of cardboard. I used it to trace with a marker on a filter roll to get as many filters as possible, 25. I've waited to write this review until I've done a few filter cleanings. When I first saw the rolling filter, I was concerned. The filter looks and feels the same as the Penn Plax filters that came with my canister. Penn Plax filters cannot be washed and reused, they will degrade. The filter worked the same as before these filter pads and kept the water in my aquarium clean. After 2 weeks of use I took them off and washed them which kept them perfect. I put the filters back in and left for another 2 weeks. The filters are washed both the second time and the first time. For the price if you're willing to spend a little time cutting out the filters it's just as good as Penn Plax filters, cheaper and with rinsing the last way takes a lot longer. The only problem I had was figuring out which direction the water was flowing through my canister so I could make sure I had the correct filter media (loose part on top or bottom). It wasn't easy to understand. I chose the looser side of the fabric at the top and the tighter side of the fabric at the bottom. I honestly don't know if that's the right direction, but it keeps the tank clean.
