50-100% increase in throughput

I bought two of these around 2009 for my laptops (Lenovo and Toshiba with Windows 7 x64) with 150Mbps Wireless-N cards. I connected them to a NETGEAR Nighthawk X6 AC3200 (R8000) tri-band WiFi router. I am very happy with the performance. Advantages: - The installation was done on a plug-and-play basis. - Wireless speed has definitely increased. I used to have 5-10 Mbps on Lenovo with the Netgear WNDR3700 router. With a new adapter, I regularly get 12-15 Mbps (yes, that's megabytes, not megabits) at the same distance (about 15 feet through 1 wall). When I'm within 6 feet of my router I sometimes see up to 25MB/s. At Toshiba, I rarely went above 2 MB/s. I now have 10-12 MBit. I'm seeing 25MB/s consistently when the Toshiba is within a few feet of the router. This worked in conjunction with my built-in wireless card. Both adapters are connected to the router and work at the same time; However, I haven't been able to determine if the computer is using both at the same time to increase throughput. It is very small and practically disappears when connected to the side of the laptop. Disadvantages: Very annoying blue flashing light. on an adapter that can't be disabled as far as I can tell. I crossed it out with a black marker. During testing (installing and uninstalling the driver several times to check compatibility with the built-in WLAN card), the computer no longer recognized the adapter during installation and did not automatically install the driver. While this is probably my computer's fault and not the adapter's, be aware that you may have to manually install the driver if you play around with it multiple times. I am very happy with the purchase. Update in 2.5 years: - One device stopped working correctly (tested on several computers). It connected for a few minutes and then lost connection. -2 stars for poor durability. EDIMAX replaced it under warranty.
