The form factor of this little gem is fantastic. I gave it four stars because the drivers on the disk were buggy. My wifi connection kept dropping while trying to work. Luckily, using the latest drivers from the company's website fixed the problem and I've been working for free for the past 4 days. I recommend this product.

You get what you paid for. unfortunately true in this case.

Didn't work on my system right away. and had to use alternative drivers. It's got a frustratingly short range and is subject to interference from the computer case - you'll have to use it facing the router - and pretty much directly into line of sight. The speed of this ac wireless adapter falls off very quickly compared to other ac wireless devices I own. This is a product where you expect to get what you paid for. Desktop - it works a little better. If you don't have an extension cord, find…

Pros
  • New to my collection
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

Great product when it works

This is a great product *when it works*. The speeds are great and the connection is stable. However, the adapter is unable to stay connected every few days. After a few minutes of use, the connection is completely lost, with the device either no longer being recognized (LED off), suddenly disconnecting (LED off) or exhibiting unexplained malfunctions (LED on). Disconnecting and reconnecting will reset it, but again that only lasts a few minutes before it fails again. Rebooting the entire system

Pros
  • Large selection
Cons
  • Minor issues

Mac OS X 10.11.6 running Airport Express

For those of you using El Capitan (OS X 10.11.x), there is a driver available on their website (thanks Andrew N. for the tip!): [ . ] Once you have downloaded the correct driver, download the PDF manual as well! This indicates that your wireless router must have a specific channel and auto-connect via DFS is not supported. To change the channel in Airport Express, connect via Ethernet and go to the Airport Utility (Wireless tab, then Wireless Options button) to change the 5 GHz channel to 36…

Great LITTLE solution to the 5GHz problem!

A very small adapter that you can really put in and forget. I get almost 80-90% of the maximum speed available (I have a 300Mbps connection and I get 270-290Mbps most of the time) except when I only get 100Mbps which is mostly due to the provider , not the adapter. It connects almost flawlessly every time the laptop boots/wakes up, but has had to be unplugged and plugged back in several times in the 3 months I've been using it. It's just a single antenna (non-MIMO), so you're only getting a…

50-100% increase in throughput

I bought two of these around 2009 for my laptops (Lenovo and Toshiba with Windows 7 x64) with 150Mbps Wireless-N cards. I connected them to a NETGEAR Nighthawk X6 AC3200 (R8000) tri-band WiFi router. I am very happy with the performance. Advantages: - The installation was done on a plug-and-play basis. - Wireless speed has definitely increased. I used to have 5-10 Mbps on Lenovo with the Netgear WNDR3700 router. With a new adapter, I regularly get 12-15 Mbps (yes, that's megabytes, not…

Pros
  • Finally got it
Cons
  • I won't say anything
