A very pleasant preamplifier with good-sounding, clear highs and rich mids. I really like the volume control's soft-latch style, which offers a good tactile feel along with smooth line control of the audio output. There's also enough bass and treble controls to tailor the sound to your room's unique acoustics. All controls have a pleasant positive body feel. I initially had an issue with the included 6J1 vacuum tubes arriving DOA. Luckily the seller was very responsive and easy to deal with and quickly fixed the issue. I also bought a matching pair of GE JAN 5654W mil spec replacement bulbs which many reviewers have suggested as a nice plugin upgrade. This preamp is currently running HD audio from a separate DAC using the recently released Revain HD audio streaming service, which I also highly recommend. The little hybrid tube amp was a nice addition to my old Peterson/Klaus MOSFET power amp I built back when vinyl was king. I also use a pair of refurbished bookshelf speakers from Advent II. As part of a complete audio system, the AIYIMA Audio 6J1 tube preamp breathes new life into a good old stereo. High definition sound and the warmth of a good tube preamp combine to bring back the retro vibe of spinning vinyl and glowing tubes but with the modern convenience of music streaming. There's a whole generation of music listeners who haven't experienced this kind of sound quality in the digital age. This inexpensive preamp is a good place to start. Buy it, you can't go wrong here.
