Does not work in sunlight. The Genie website says doors that won't open due to sunlight are a "minor inconvenience" because they expect people to stay and watch the door come all the way down. It's no small inconvenience - it's a HUGE security issue. When the garage door button is pushed and the door begins to activate, virtually everyone goes in and waits for the door opener to work properly and lower. With this product, the door will open all day, leaving your garage and home open and unprotected. This product does not meet residential quality standards, which are typically several levels below commercial or industrial standards. To be clear, the problem is NOT that sunlight blurs the rays. Genie continues to reduce the quality of the beams by reducing their power. They no longer have the strength to overcome the sunlight. Older Genie sensors and other brands use basic quality sensors to make the rays work in the sunlight. The quality of the new rays is so poor that sunlight washes them away. Additionally, Genie doesn't adhere to industry standards and developed their own beam system - their openers require beam sensors. While higher quality converters are available on the market, Genie does not authorize their use. The Genie system just isn't capable of using high quality beams. Your family and property are at risk when using these rays. Try a different brand of bottle opener until Genie fixes the problems.
