Fixed an issue that caused my doors to stop in "Emergency " for no reason.

When my garage door inexplicably stopped moving, I became very concerned that something was seriously wrong. A quick Google search led me to the culprit - sunlight! Then I noticed that the door worked fine in the mornings and evenings, but intermittently during the day. It became apparent that my old sensors had failed. These guys were a direct replacement if not an upgrade. Very happy with the results. It took me 30 minutes (conservative) to swap out the sensors on 2 doors. Anyone having…

Easy to install fixed light sensors.

My Genie garage door would not close when the receiver's sensor was lit. I read online that older sensors often fail and become sensitive to light. I purchased and installed these new Genie Safe-T-Beam sensors and the issue has been resolved. Now even the brightest morning light that falls directly on the sensors does not cause any problems and the door closes reliably. Replacing the sensor couldn't be easier. It reuses existing cables, just unscrew the old connections and screw them in the…

Perfect replacement for fancy Genie rectangular door sensors

Like others, my 2002 Genie Safety Beam sensors became increasingly sensitive to sunlight, first directly and then on almost any cloudless day. Enough! This is a fully compatible replacement. Works perfectly! Tip: You can place the transmitter (green LED) and receiver (red LED) on either side of the door, but consider placing the receiver on the most visible side so you can see the red LED flashing when in sight is available. Obstacle. As with older sensors, the wiring is not polarized. Just…

Works with old Genie Square security T-bars

After reading a few reviews I got the ones pictured above. These appear to be real genius sensors. If you are replacing square safety T-bars, the old square ones have 2 sets of wires that go to the red sensor and 1 set that goes to the green. If you cut the plastic connectors off the old square red sensor, take the striped wires, twist them together and connect them to the bottom screw on the new red sensor. Take the white wires, twist them together and connect them to the top screw on the new…

Perfect replacement for the Genie Pro Screw Operator

Pro - lets the garage door go down again Con - just small - the screw holes in the new brackets don't match the old ones so you have to drill pilot hole for each bracket InstallDetails: My Garage door would not have lowered if I had not held down the wall switch until the door was fully closed. Virtually none of the gauges had indicators, and sometimes a red light would flash, indicating one of the many problems. After fiddling around with the old sensors and checking the voltage on each to…

  • Handy Thing
Cons

Does not work in sunlight. The Genie website says doors that won't open due to sunlight are a "minor inconvenience" because they expect people to stay and watch the door come all the way down. It's no small inconvenience - it's a HUGE security issue. When the garage door button is pushed and the door begins to activate, virtually everyone goes in and waits for the door opener to work properly and lower. With this product, the door will open all day, leaving your garage and home open and…

I have a Genie Pro 98. Very old. .

I have a Genie Pro 98. Very old. The sensors no longer functioned reliably. These replacement devices worked great. My Genie Pro 98 has a two wire cable that runs from the garage motor on the ceiling to one of the old sensors in the black square box. And then the second two-wire cable that goes from one of the rectangular sensors to the other rectangular sensor. All ends end in pigtail ends (see attached photo of my old sensor with two pigtail wires attached to it). The replacement instructions

DIY Guides/Help

First of all, this garage door opener security T-bar replacement kit has worked great for me. I have a 20 year old Genie Intellicode garage door opener that was here when we bought the house and the garage door opener has worked flawlessly for 20 years. However, over the course of twenty years there have been intermittent problems with the standard sensors that likely came with the garage door opener. From time to time, the standard rectangular sensors would become misaligned, resulting in the…
