Pretty welder. Although I'm not a welder I was able to learn the tee and weld some pretty good aluminum joints. I was able to weld 3/8 aluminum in just a few passes without any problems. The controls are a little confusing, especially when they're mislabeled. But all in all a good package! ****Updated in 1 year*** Welder has proven to be an excellent fit and allowed me to learn and become a pretty good AC welder. Once you learn the controls, you'll be able to give Ellie and SS some great pearls. The only control that confused me was the "gap effect" and after some research I found out that it is the "AC balance" that is causing the % EN to EP or cleaning action when welding with Alternating current affected. "0" is actually 50EN/50EP, I usually set mine to "-3" which is 30EN/70EP. I found it perfect for me. It interfered with my welds and I used it exclusively on 220 VAC. Pretty good for the price and the amount of welding I do. I suggest upgrading the burner and burner cable. Can't go wrong with a CK flashlight and a CK Superflex cable! If I had to do it all over again, I definitely wouldn't buy another car. It might not have all the features of some others, like pulse and variable frequency, but I like the fact that you don't have to scroll through a bunch of settings to find what you need. Everything has its own handle. I definitely recommend this lotus!
